I don’t really like taking pictures of “events”.  There is just too much pressure, not to mention I have a hard time getting out of my comfort zone and getting in front to get “the shot”.  I don’t think I could ever be a wedding photographer, it would be way to stressful for me and would take the joy out of photography.  Of course I made an exception for this girl.  How could I say no, really?  Isn’t she beautiful!  Sure made me wish I lived around here when I was 15.  Dressing up like a princess for  a night, sounds like fun.  At least I know I get to plan my own daughters in about 14 years….. I have already been asked by another girl for the orphanage to help plan hers in August and of course I said yes.  Anyways, this party went great.  I even cried.  The birthday girl was worried that her family would not be able to come.  Tables where set up on the stage so that they could sit with her.  She asked us, along with some other friends to sit up with her in case her family did not come.  She was so excited when she realized her sisters had come, she cried when she sat down with them.  Then she turned to the door to see that her Dad, Grandma, Aunt, and Cousins had just arrived.  She was  so overwhelmed with emotion, she really didn’t think they would come.  I could not hold my own tears.  Family is so important to the kids who live in the orphanage.  Even if they know their lives are better there, they love and need their family so much.  I was so happy for her!  It was such an honor to take part in this special day.  Here are some of my favorite shots from the day.

So what do you think?

    Stunning. The whole thing..especially Gloria.
Aili is now busy dreaming of her own quinceanera in 5 years! I guess we’ll have to make sure we’re in Mexico when she turns fifteen…which may be tricky since her birthday lands in the middle of harvest. Fun for her to dream about though…every girl wants to be a princess for a day. So happy for the girls at the orphanage who get that chance to feel beautiful.
